Our Office

The main office of Retinal Consultants of San Antonio is located near the South Texas Medical Center on Huebner Rd. near Methodist Ambulatory Surgery Hospital. It is one block east of the intersection of Floyd Curl Drive and Huebner Rd. It is two blocks east of Luby's.

Dr. Mein and Dr. Chica also see patients twice a month in Kerrville and New Braunfels. They see patients at these locations to better serve their patients. However, they can only examine and do limited tests at the satelite offices. When surgery, laser procedures, or sophisticated tests are necessary, patients must come to San Antonio for care.

Meet the Front Office Staff

Mary is the office manager. Mary has a strong medical background. She has been an RN for many years specializing in critical care nursing. She has been the office manager for Dr. Mein since he opened his private office in 1991. She handles the accounts and oversees the office.

Kristie and Virginia are receptionists. They answer the phone, talk with patients, schedule appointments, help get referral authorizations, and answer questions that may arise about the office. Usually, Kristie or Virginia will be the first personal contact with the office.

Norma is an insurance specialist. She works diligently to see that the insurance companies pay for any service for which they are responsible. She is the contact person for any questions for problems that may arise with insurance coverage. Our office files all insurance claims for our patients.

Meet the Technicians

Sean, Brenda, and Lita are each certified ophthalmic assistants with special skills in all of the high tech tests done in the office such as digital angiography, optical coherence tomography, and ultrasound testing of the eye. They also assist with eye surgeries done by Dr. Mein both in the office and in the hospital.

Sean is from San Antonio. He likes to fish, play poker, and spend time with his son Zach.	Brenda is from Erie, PA. She is an excellent photographer and enjoys gardening.	Lita is from Oregon where she used to fish for salmon. Lita is our newest technician.

Finally, there is Sonia. She has become Dr. Mein's right hand person while examining patients. She makes sure the referral doctors get letters about results of Dr. Mein's exams. She also does OCT testing, schedules surgeries, and assists with eye injections.
